PB Curry Sermon: ‘Blessed are those who trust in the Lord’

On Tuesday, February 7, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry preached at a special CDSP Community Eucharist. He offered this sermon on the occasion of the commemoration of the late Rt. Rev. Barbara C. Harris (DD ’02), the first woman ordained as bishop in the Anglican Communion. He took his text from Jeremiah 17:

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord,

   whose trust is the Lord.

They shall be like a tree planted by water,

   sending out its roots by the stream.

It shall not fear when heat comes,

   and its leaves shall stay green;

in the year of drought it is not anxious,

   and it does not cease to bear fruit.
