Update on Search for New President & Dean

Dear CDSP Community,

In this time of new beginnings for the church and secular calendars, we write to you with an update on the seminary’s search for a new president & dean. The work is well underway, and we consider the search to be on schedule with the goal of having the successful candidate begin their work in the fall of 2023.

Here is where our process stands:

We have formed the search committee and its executive team. The executive team will lead the process through each phase. It comprises one member each from among the students, faculty members, staff members, and alums serving on the search committee, as well as members of the board of trustees. When the time comes, the full search committee will be responsible for vetting and interviewing candidates and ultimately making a recommendation to the board. As of this writing, the executive team has met five times, with a focus on the actions enumerated below.

We have interviewed and selected the search firm that will guide and advise our process. CDSP has hired Ernest Brooks of Isaacson, Miller to serve in this capacity. Higher education is the largest focus area for this highly regarded search firm. Isaacson, Miller has helped conduct thousands of successful searches for new college and university leaders.

We are nearing completion of the candidate profile. Ernest and his team have been drafting this document, which will be revised and approved by the executive team. Crucial to the revision process will be results of interviews Ernest and his colleagues have been conducting with stakeholders and peers in the CDSP community, at other Episcopal seminaries, and across the Episcopal Church. The candidate profile will represent a wise and strategic vision for seminary leadership in the 21st century—as exercised in the unique context of CDSP and its many strengths and partnerships.

We expect to formally share the position announcement in early 2023. We will convene the full search committee to plan the process of vetting and interviewing candidates in advance of the application deadline.

We hope this update gives a clear and hopeful picture of the process before us. We look forward to being in touch with you again when we are ready to formally announce the position.

Sincerely,

Dr. Scott Evenbeck
Search Committee Chair

Search Committee Vice-Chair
