Scholarships at Church Divinity School
of the Pacific

Thanks to generations of generous benefactors, a wide variety of scholarships are available. Prospective students do not apply for these scholarships: Awards are made by a campus committee based on a student’s financial need and the donor’s requirements.

Some of these are:

Excellence in Ministry Scholarships – awarded to highly qualified men and women on the basis of strong academic performance and evidence of extraordinary promise as leaders of vision in the church. Recipients must be postulants or candidates for Holy Orders by August of their matriculation year.

Kaehr Minority Student Fund – provides tuition for students who are from minority or underrepresented groups to facilitate their studies at CDSP.

St. Margaret’s Scholarship for Women in Ministry – awarded annually to a female full-time student preparing for ordination in the Episcopal Church who is at least 45 years of age.

Lucas Scholarship – awarded to assist students who are studying concurrently for Master of Divinity at CDSP and the Master of Arts awarded by the Graduate Theological Union.

Norman Mealy Memorial Scholarship – intended to help pay the tuition of a gifted seminarian organist. This person will serve as an assistant to the chapel organist and encourage other musicians to participate in the services.

Merwin Head Married Student Scholarship – granted to married student households at CDSP. Recipients are to be active members in good standing of the Episcopal Church and preparing for parish ministry.

Canon Teed Scholarship – to support a full-time female student, over 40 years of age, pursuing a Master of Divinity degree, and anticipating ordination in the Episcopal Church.

International Student Scholarship – A scholarship for tuition and living expenses to international students coming from their country of residence to earn a degree at CDSP. Applicants must follow these procedures.

Eligibility for specific scholarships is determined after an admissions application has been filed with the Admissions office.

The Financial Aid office for CDSP is called the Consortial Financial Aid Office which handles all financial aid for the seminaries and graduate schools in the Graduate Theological Union.
