CDSP Calls Lauren F. Winner, PhD as Visiting Professor of Women in Ministry
Church Divinity School of the Pacific is pleased to announce that following a nationwide search we have called The Rev. Lauren F. Winner, Ph.D. as The St. Margaret’s Visiting Professor of Women in Ministry effective July 1, 2026, focusing on the areas of pastoral theology and homiletics.
Dr. Winner is an Episcopal priest serving part time as Vicar of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Durham, North Carolina.
She currently is Associate Professor of Christian Spirituality at Duke Divinity School, Duke University, in Durham, North Carolina, where she has been a faculty member since 2006. Dr. Winner was awarded her Ph.D. in History from Columbia University in New York City in 2006. In 2007, she graduated summa cum laude from Duke Divinity School, earning her M.Div. She was awarded a M.Phil. in Historical Studies in 1999 from Clare College, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, England. Dr. Winner earned her B.A. in History and Religion in 1997 from Columbia University graduating summa cum laude.
Her books include The Dangers of Christian Practice: On Wayward Gifts, Characteristic Damage, and Sin (Yale University Press, 2018) and Wearing God: Clothing, Laughter, Fire, and Other Overlooked Ways of Meeting God (HarperOne, 2015).
Dr. Winner will join us on July 1, 2026. We are excited that she has chosen to become a part of Church Divinity School of the Pacific’s full-time faculty.
