Francisco Garcia Named to Faculty Position in Christian Ministries

Church Divinity School of the Pacific is pleased to announce that we have called The Rev. Francisco García, PhD, to join the school’s faculty as Assistant Professor of Christian Ministries, starting on July 1, 2026.
Dr. García is an Episcopal priest, organizer and campaign strategist, and theological educator with extensive experience in interfaith, community, labor, and academic settings. He completed his doctorate in theology, ethics and action at Vanderbilt University. He has worked as a Campaign Director for the Bargaining for the Common Good project at the Action Center on Race and the Economy.
He is currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Sacred Resistance-Sanctuary ministry for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, and was recently elected a Director of the Corporation of the Diocese.
Dr. García was hired as the result of a national search that also yielded our current Assistant Professor of Systematic and Moral Theology, Dr. Aminah Al-Attas Bradford.
Dr. García served as part of CDSP’s Adjunct Faculty during the 2024-2025 academic year, teaching Systematic Theology, Moral Theology, and Ministry in a Global City for the M.Div. program. In our 2025-2026 academic year, during the upcoming 4th Quarter, he will teach as Adjunct Faculty, Mission in a Post Christian World.
In the CALL program, he has previously taught courses on liberation theologies and ethics, intersectional theologies, and community organizing fundamentals for the church.
We are excited that Dr. García will be joining us as a full-time faculty member soon.
