The fall semester is off and running. CDSP faculty and staff gathered September 3–6 in Berkeley for a time of focused planning about the coming academic year and beyond.

The group’s agenda including time for community building, an update on the school’s budget process and outlook for the next few years, and conversations about preparing to begin working remotely in mid-2025 as the school’s transition to a fully hybrid educational model proceeds.

Members of the academic affairs team also briefed their colleagues on plans for the first gathered session outside Berkeley. The upcoming January term will be held at Trinity Church Wall Street, part of a plan to continue strengthening the ties between both institutions, distribute the travel burden more equitably among CDSP’s geographically dispersed student body, and facilitate connections with alums (see “Save the Date” item below).

The event also featured the kick-off of the formal selection process for a new learning management system, in partnership with educational technology consulting company Learning Forte.

“We came with a long list of big tasks for this year of significant transition, and in some ways we’re leaving with an even longer list,” said Dr. Stephen Fowl, president and dean, at the close of the event.

“Still, I’m happy with the progress we made this week, and I’m grateful to work with this talented team to carry the seminary’s mission forward.”
