Seminarians of Color Host Civil Rights Leader

On Monday, January 18, the Seminarians of Color Union (SOCU) at CDSP honored the memory of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a time of prayer and reflection.

Their guest speaker was Waymon Wright of Frederick, MD. A journalist, civil rights activist, and longtime Episcopalian, Wright shared the story of his life: his childhood in Jim Crow-era South Carolina, his time at Morehouse College and his work with Dr. King and SNCC, his days breaking barriers for Black journalists and PR professionals, and his various roles in ministry leadership in the Episcopal Church. The latter include collaboration with Bishop Eugene Sutton of the Diocese of Maryland in support of racial reconciliation and restitution.

Many thanks to SOCU for sharing this recording of the storytelling portion of their gathering.
