The Rev. Phil Jackson ’94 to Preach on September 5
To mark the beginning of the fall term on campus, CDSP will hold a festive Eucharist at All Saints Chapel on September 5 at 5:45 p.m. The Rev. Phil Jackson ’94, vicar of Trinity Church Wall Street, will preach. A reception in Denniston Commons will follow the service.
Jackson has led the mission and ministry of Trinity’s congregation since 2015. Previously he was rector of Christ Church of the Ascension in Paradise Valley, Arizona, and served parishes in Houston and Detroit. In addition to his MDiv from CDSP, he holds a B.A. in history from Amherst College, where he is a trustee, and a J.D. from Yale Law School. Before attending CDSP, he practiced law in Hawaii.

In August, Jackson wrote to his fellow alums:
Dear fellow alumni,
I’m writing to invite you to join me at CDSP for a festive Eucharist on Thursday, September 5. I’m delighted to be preaching at the service, and I hope you will join me, along with the faculty, staff, and current students, to mark the beginning of the fall term.
This is an exciting time for students–and alumni–of CDSP. Since March, when we announced a partnership between Trinity Church Wall Street and CDSP, Dean Richardson, the faculty and staff of CDSP, and Trinity staff have been working together to shape our vision for church leadership in this rapidly changing world. Our discussions have been thoughtful and thought-provoking, and we’re eager to see this relationship grow and bear fruit.
My education at CDSP prepared me well for ministry, with deep theological study, engaging community work, and exposure to a West Coast sensibility that broadened my thinking. In the 25 years since I studied in Berkeley, CDSP has prepared a new generation of leaders, adapting its curriculum and developing innovative approaches to seminary education – and it will continue to do so for many years.
I hope to see you in Berkeley on September 5 to celebrate not only our shared history with and pride in CDSP, but also the exciting future that lies ahead.
Blessings,
Phil
