Church Divinity School of the Pacific Elects New Trustees, Officers

Church and community leaders in California, Arizona, Louisiana and Michigan join board of Berkeley, Calif. graduate theological seminary

BERKELEY, CALIF. June 1, 2011 – The Board of Trustees of Church Divinity School of the Pacific has elected seven new members of its board of trustees and re-elected the Rev. Eliza Linley of Aptos as board chair.

Elected to five-year terms are: the Rev. Randal Gardner, rector of St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in LaJolla, Calif.; the Rev. Richard Neely Morrison, a lawyer and educator specializing in water and environmental law in Gilbert, Ariz.; the Rev. P. Donald White Jr., a real estate developer and retired priest in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Elected to three-year terms as Province VIII representatives are: the Rev. Glenn M. Libby, Ph.D., Los Angeles, the Episcopal chaplain for the University of Southern California; the Rev. Jay Sapaen Watan, of San Francisco, youth minister and chaplain at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church and Sea Breeze School in Foster City, Calif.; the Rev. Monrelle T. Williams, Ph.D., rector at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Oakland, Calif. and lecturer at the School for Deacons, in Berkeley, Calif. Also elected to the board as president of the Alumni Council is the Rev. Canon Lisa Gray, of Detroit, Mich., the Canon to the Ordinary for the Diocese of Michigan.

In addition to Linley, an architect and silkscreen artist who also is associate pastor at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Capitola, Calif., other new CDSP officers are: the Rev. Rod McAulay, a retired rector from Sepastopol, Calif., vice chair; the Rev. Fran Tornquist, of Belmont, Calif., secretary; and Gardner, treasurer.
