Doctrine of Discovery Workshop

Fri, May 2, 2014 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Moving beyond the Doctrine of Discovery:
Pathways toward healing and hope with indigenous peoples

Come learn how we can stand in solidarity with indigenous peoples to acknowledge and address the legacy of colonial occupation and policies of domination. We cannot undo the past, but we can be transformed by what we learn about it, how we see and pray about it, and how we live in the present. A panel discussion will feature reflections by Native American Episcopal clergy including the Rev. Lewis Powell - Native American Missioner, Diocese of Northern California and the Revs. Jerry Drino and Hank LeBeau from St. Phillip’s-San José. The workshop will conclude with a Eucharist and light lunch.
