The Neighborhood

CDSP is part of multiple neighborhoods, whose members and institutions enrich the experience of living, studying and worshiping.

• The “Holy Hill” neighborhood, consisting of partner schools and centers of the Graduate Theological Union, sharing faculty, meals, events, a library and open spaces.
• The Euclid Avenue neighborhood, providing a commercial block with places to gather, shop, eat and linger.
• The North Berkeley neighborhood, with its own unique shops and restaurants along Shattuck Avenue, the meandering streets of the Berkeley Hills and the Berkeley Rose Garden.
• The University of California/Berkeley neighborhood, one block south, with entertainment, recreation, libraries and parks within the sprawling campus.
• Downtown Berkeley, also within walking distance, offering the amenities, shops, services and government offices of a city of more than 100,000 people, flavored by unique and eclectic traditions.
• Berkeley is part of the East Bay, whose population center is nearby Oakland, but whose communities stretch from the Sacramento Delta to San Jose.

• Across the bay, the Golden Gate and the city of San Francisco are always in view – fogbank permitting – beckoning East Bay residents to travel across the Bay Bridge or take public transportation (bus, BART, or ferry) to the renowned international city and all of its treasures.
