More than half of CDSP students live in non-CDSP housing, most in in Berkeley and neighboring towns, although some commute from other states or other parts of California.
A bank of networked computers and printer are located at the east end of the Tucson Common Room in the area designated as the Commuter Student Lounge. These are primarily for commuter student use, but may be made available to other students upon request to the Front Office & Reception in Shires.
Commuter students also have key access to the Tucson Common Room kitchen, which is equipped with a refrigerator, washing-up facilities, coffee pot, and tea kettle. It is stocked with tea, coffee, beverage condiments, and cleaning supplies. Commuter students are encouraged to feel at home (and asked to clean up after they use this equipment).
Lockers are available in the Commuter Lounge. To reserve a locker for the year, locate an empty locker, equip it with your own lock, and notify the Director of Reception and Housing of the locker number. These lockers will be emptied each summer – any lockers that remain locked will be opened and emptied.
Group study may be done in Denniston Common [link to photos of Denniston] or in specially designated areas of the library. Denniston Common is also the place for group socializing and is open to the entire GTU community. Hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.; Fridays 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. It is possible to reserve space in the Common Room, Easton Hall, or Gibbs for small group work. These reservations are made with the Director of Operations at the Reception Desk in Shires Hall.
