Association for Episcopal Deacons (AED)

Formation for Deacons and Deacons-in-Training

The Center for Anglican Learning and Leadership enjoys a partnership with the Association for Episcopal Deacons. Each year CALL offers online courses designed and taught by AED members that are appropriate for formation and continuing education of deacons in our Church.

Susanne Watson Epting, Deacon and Director of AED, writes: "Our partnership with CALL has been a real gift. Our colleagues in the CALL program recognize that teaching and learning through a diaconal lens is important for deacons and for those discerning a call to the diaconate. In addition, this provides an opportunity for seasoned deacons to interact with those who are discerning, and those who may have less, but newer experience. The mentoring and sharing that takes place is invaluable."

In addition, many AED members find other CALL online course offerings of interest. Members qualify for the organizational discount for any CALL online course.  Simply select the appropriate designation when registering.

For Spring 2012, we recommend the following online courses for diaconal formation:

Many of CALL's instructors also teach in the Diocese of California's School for Deacons, which is located in Shires Hall on the CDSP campus.
