Certificate of Anglican Studies (low-residency): Summers in California, the rest online

The low-residential option for the Certificate of Anglican Studies (CAS) combines multiple approaches to learning in a low-residency online format.

Students choosing the low-residential CAS option come to the CDSP campus for two weeks in two consecutive summers. This "Anglican Immersion" provides the grounding in Anglican studies and spiritual formation in community that are hallmarks of CDSP.

Over the course of two years, students then take the balance of their courses in an online format, joining residential M.Div. students in the same classes with the same professors through a newly developed pedagogy.

The low-residential option is designed for those who will be ministering in largely traditional settings and are looking to enhance diocesan training. Students are able to study online and work relatively independently, while enjoying the community formation of the summer Anglican Immersion.

How much does it cost?

The low-residential option for the Certificate of Anglican Studies costs $700/credit—the same as the residential for-credit degrees and programs.
Students are required to enroll in two consecutive summer Anglican Immersion sessions for 12 credits at $700/credit amounting to $8,400 for each of two Anglican Immersion sessions.
The student also will enroll in four on-line courses for 12 credits at $700/credit for a total cost of $8,400.

The total cost of the program is $16,800.

Summary of Requirements

Earning the low-residential CAS requires attendance at two consecutive Anglican Immersions — a two-week course of study occurring on the CDSP campus every July that earns the student 6 credits for each Immersion. Students will work with a faculty advisor to design an online course of study involving the following fou Anglican areas of study: History, Theology and Ethics, Liturgics, and Pastoral Care (including Homiletics). A total of 24 credits is required and will normally include at least one course in each of the areas listed above.
